Cast vs Forged:

American Iron chooses to manufacture soley inside the United States. Forged C's are typically sourced from overseas manufacturers due to production costs here domestically. Our C's are 80-55-06 ductile iron with very similar tensile strength to a forging. Our casting takes 28% more PSI to bend and return to shape than a stock 1045 mild steel forging- essentially it's much harder to bend. The only true benefit to a 1045 forging is the welding process. Ductile requires pre-heating to approximately 500 degrees, welded with a nickel wire (which we provide as an option), and to be wrapped with a blanket to be cooled slower. The benefit of a stronger inner C is well worth that extra little bit of time to pre-heat/post-heat especially when paired with our 05+ D60 Outer knuckles which deflect only .046" at 25,000 psi (a full hydro ram pushes with 8,000 psi).

• Building a 2005+ Ford Super Duty axle and don’t like how thin the aftermarket inner C’s look? Neither do we. Like the 2005+ outer knuckle, our C’s are casted and machined here in the USA.
• We added 1/2” to the inner side for more engagement and added webbing to tie the upper & lower portions of the knuckle into the added material.
• While we were at it we wanted to mill a perfectly flat section on the top of the C for a better place for shock mounting. 
• These will fit a 3.5” to 4” OD tube for your needs.

• Gen1 C's had a gusset down the center of each section, the Gen2 inner C features a thinner gusset down each side of the C on top & bottom to add more rigidity. Sometimes it's not about thickness of the material, it's about placement & shape.
